The Gothic Facade of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya. This publication traces the restoration of the Gothic facade of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya carried out by the Department of Restoration and Preventive Conservation of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya as commissioned by the Departament de Presidència of the Generalitat. This profusely illustrated volume basically deals with four topics: the history of the Gothic facade giving onto el carrer del Bisbe and its role within Catalan art history; the restoration process followed for the Gothic portals of the Palau de la Generalitat; a description of the types of materials of the portals; and the restoration of the facade in general. We can also follow parts of the restoration process in detail, such as the dismantling of the medallion of Saint George or of the balustrade, with its respective plans. The study closes with the English translation of the texts.
