In due course the surface of the sculpture became deformed, the lead lifting up in blisters due to the incompatibility of the two materials. Currently there are some other areas where the piece has already started the same process.

In the image, the raking [2] light [2] reveals the modified areas of lead sheets in the legs and the neck.
