From Tiziano to Bassano. Venetian Masters from the Museo del Prado. Catalogue of the exhibit that allowed Catalan art lovers to contemplate part of the Museo del Prado's opulent collection of 16th-century Venetian painting. The time frame involved begins with the decade of 1530, when the first exchanges between Carlos V and Titian bore fruit, and closes at the beginning of the 17th century with Palma the Young, heir to the great Venetian pictorial tradition but also receptive to other artistic currents. In between, a fascinating voyage over eight decades of Venetian painting laced with masterpieces by Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto and the Bassanos, divided into three thematic sections entitled 'The Portrait,' 'Religious Painting' and 'The Permeability of Genres.' Brief biographies of each of the artists represented in the exhibit and a carefully compiled, exhaustive bibliography are also included.
