Corporate Social Responsibility Certificate

The Museu Nacional considers its relationship with society, with its users, suppliers, sponsors and other museums and cultural institutions, as well as with its surroundings and its responsibility to the environment, beyond what is stipulated by law.

The Museu Nacional obtained the Social Responsibility certificate (IQNet SR10), the first public cultural institution and museum in Spain to do so.

Barcelona Biosphere Commitment to Sustainability in Tourism Certificate

This certification aims to create and develop a culture of sustainability and inclusion [1]. The Museu Nacional obtained this certification [2] in 2018.

The Biosphere system was created in 1997 by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) from a group of academics, professionals and sustainability experts, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UNESCO, to transmit the United Nations guidelines in an easy and adapted way in order to achieve lifestyles and life models in accordance with the global principles and objectives of sustainability.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Agenda 2030

The 2030 Agenda [4] is the new global roadmap for progress towards sustainable development. Adopted by the United Nations in 2015, it includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs cover the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability and address five broad areas: planet, people, prosperity, peace and partnerships.

The Museu Nacional, from the point of view of Social Responsibility, takes on the following SDGs: 3 (Health and well-being), 4 (Quality education), 5 (Gender equality), 6 (Clean water and sanitation), 7 (Clean and affordable energy), 10 (Reducing inequalities), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities), 12 (Responsible consumption and production), 13 (Climate action), 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions), as stated in its annual report [5].
