The Cambó Collection of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the politician and patron of the arts Francesc Cambó (1876-1947), the MNAC presented the painting collection that the patrician bequeathed to the museum. This legacy represents the largest gift of Renaissance and Baroque art ever made to Catalonia. It includes works from the 1300's to the 1700's, bearing such significant names as Francesco del Cossa, Quinten Metsys, Lucas Cranach, Titian, Sebastiano del Piombo, Tintoretto, Rubens, Zurbarán, Tiepolo, Quentin de La Tour, Fragonard, and Francisco de Goya. Aside from the cataloguing of the Cambó collection, classified into Italian painting, Spanish painting, German painting, Flemish and Dutch painting, and French and English painting, this volume also includes biographical notes on Cambó signed by his daughter, and is rounded out with a rigorous bibliography, and the Spanish, English and French translations of the texts.
