In 1992 the Library is provisionally installed in the Convent of Sant Agustí as the General Library of Art History. At this time it begins an intense period of participation in the organization of international conferences and symposia. In 2004 the move to the Palau Nacional, home of the MNAC, is prepared.

The opening of the Library in the Convent of Sant Agustí: Pere Duran Farell, president of the MNAC Board of Trustees; Oriol Bohigas, head of Barcelona City Council's Department of Culture; Eduard Carbonell, director-general of the Generalitat's patrimony; Ramon Guardans, vice-president of the MNAC, and Xavier Barral, director of the MNAC.
On March 19th the Library's new home is opened, and it changes its name to General Library of Art History.
