In 1934 the Library opens in the Casa de la Junta de Museos in the Poble Espanyol. In 1936 it travels to Olot, along with the artistic and documentary patrimony, and is installed in the Solà-Morales House until 1939, when it returns to the rooms in the Poble Espanyol.

La Generalitat abolishes the Barcelona Museums Board and creates the General Museums Commissariat. The Museums come under the control of Pere Coromines, commissary-director of Museums.
