Anglada was the youngest painter of the second generation of Modernistes and made a name for himself internationally. After training in Barcelona, he moved to Paris, where he painted numerous pictures of Paris night-life with light effects. The impact in Paris of the aesthetics of Diaghilev's Russian Ballets was decisive for the development of his work, not forgetting his stay in Valencia from 1904, centred on Spanish traditional culture, with its marked decorativism, as we see in this painting, in which the true protagonist is the chromaticism of the costumes.This work has been selected for the project 'Partage Plus - Digitising and Enabling Art Nouveau for Europeana'Clickhereto see the art piece as a gigaphoto.
