These two panels depict six episodes from the biography (that is, the hagiography) of St Andrew:Left section: Saint Andrew Preaching; Saint Andrew before Proconsul AegeusRight section: Crucifixion of Saint Andrew; Appearance of Saint Andrew to a Bishop Tempted by the DevilThe cycle comes to a close, after his crucifixion, with the posthumous miracle most commonly associated with the saint: the apostle appears before a bishop tempted by the devil who, although disguised as a woman, is easily recognisable by the claws that emerge from beneath his attire. Two panels now preserved abroad, one with the image of the saint and the other depicting Calvary, would have constituted the main lane of the ensemble. Pere Teixidor was the leading Lleida painter during the first third of the xv century, the maximum representative of the early International Style in west Catalonia.
