Description:

Conference about the legal protection of the archaeological and numismatic heritage against despoils, which affects directly the museum as a repository where some of the objects that are recovered are decontextualized and having lost part of its historical value. The sacking of historical places is a reality that affects numismatic in particular, because of the efficacy of the metal detectors at detecting coins.

The museum becomes the meeting place for some of the people evolved in the protection of this heritage to detect failures and to make suggestions to improve, all through dialog and experiences exchange. We want to raise awareness of the damage despoils cause and also to create a network of knowledge with all the different experiences of the speakers.

The conference will be divided in 4 round tables:

  • Analysis of the legislation and the role of the courts.
  • The role of the competent bodies of the Administration.
  • The role of the security forces of the state.
  • The need to divulge and the ethic compromise of the collectors, trade guilds, cultural media and the University.
